Artists Business Plans and the Long Haul Mindset
I read a fantastic post the other day on Empty Easel’s blog called ‘The SEO Mindset for Artists: Are you ready for a long haul?‘ Basically it discusses that when you are implementing search engine optimisation tactics on your blog or website, you have to have a ‘long haul’ mindset. You need to work at it consistently for over 4 months to get to the point where you are actually beginning to see the positive effects, namely the big jump in traffic to your site.
It definitely inspired me to stick to my plan of regular blogging.
I see this ‘long-haul’ mindset as being the key to success in most fields. Deciding on a plan and implementing it consistently for a timescale long enough to be able to make an accurate judgement on whether it is successful or not. If you give up too early, or jump from idea to idea, how can you make an accurate call on the success or otherwise of your plan?
How many artists even have a business plan?
Here’s some good links to get you started on thinking about a business plan for your art career:

Do you have a business plan? Do you think it is important for artists?
